Hi All,

My development server contains Oracle Binaries and OMS installed by previous DBA. Now i need to uninstall the OMS only which is never used from the time of Installation.I am finding difficult to uninstall. I tried with ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/ ./runInstaller. But it gives the following error.

$ ./runInstaller
Starting Oracle Universal Installer...

Checking installer requirements...

Checking operating system version: must be 5200 or 5100
Failed <<<<

Exiting Oracle Universal Installer, log for this session can be found at /tmp/OraInstall2007-03-26_04-53-53PM/installActions2007-03-26_04-53-53PM.log

And also i will provide the info at the above said log file.

Using paramFile: /u01/app/oracle/oui/oraparam.ini

Checking installer requirements...

Kindly help me to remove the OMS by the runInstaller or any other method suggested to remove safely, b'cos it has taken a very huge space.

Thanks in advance

You *REALLY* should have told us the Oracle and OS version.

I just happen to know, that Oracle < 9.2.0.6 isn't supported ( or at least the installer thinks it isn't supported) on AIX 5.3, only on 5.1 und 5.2, since I had the same errors back during the install.

(Allthough we now run it for some time now without problems)

Try "runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs"

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried the ignore option also, but it gives the same error. Now you tell me whether the directory can be removed by rm command. If yes, kindly tell me whether it will create any impact in future.

My oracle version is 9.2.0.7 and my OS is AIX 5.3

Thanks Once again

Hi All,

Kindly help me to remove the OMS without any problem. I understand from Thomas that Oracle <9.2.0.6 on AIX 5.3 doesnt support for the runInstaller.

So in this scenario what will be the solution to this problem.

Thanks in advance

If you want 100% assurance that it is completely removed, use newfs.
Alternatively I suspect that rm -ef / will be almost as effective

Hi,

Today i have removed the OMS by rm -rf command. Is there would be any impact for this kind of action taken in future to my development server.

Suggestions are welcome.
