Hi,
The details of or setup are below.

Quote:

1)The OS is HP-UX
2)The oracle db version is 9.2.0.8
3)I have installed oracle 10g software of the same server as the 9i database.[different homes and software owners)
4)I created a 10g database with the same oracle_sid as oracle 9i
5)Now i used export/import to upgrade 9i to 10g database.[this was to test the objects]
6)Now i am planning to upgrade the original 9i database to 10g using dbua.
7)I modified the oratab and commented out 10g database and added 9i db details(as it cannot have multiple entries with same sid)
8)Now i invoked dbua through 10g software owner(is this right),but when i select the database to upgrade,it gives "database not mounted"
9)But the db is up and open

Can someone help me here.

Regards,

Thanks Arju,
Even with the database mounted,i am getting the same error.
Quote:

SQL> select status from v$instance;

STATUS
------------
MOUNTED

I am getting ora-01507:database not mounted.

Hi,
The database needs to be open,I opened the db.The problem was the wrong oracle_home in oratab.I had given /ora92/ instead of /ora92

Hi,
that oracle services are created and started.Does anyone know if this can be disabled or deleted.

YOu can delete oracle services through ORADIM utility.
but why you want to delete this service.

Taj
